Finding a Sitter on Labor Day Weekend

Ah, Labor Day weekend. It’s typically a weekend jam-packed with barbecues, swimming, and time with friends and family. You’re off work and the kids are off school for three days, and you really just get the chance to recharge, reset, and wrap up the summer in a fun way. You’re probably hitting the pool with some friends, carting kids around to sports events, or even traveling out of town for a quick weekend get away.

But, when are you supposed to spend some quality one-on-one time with your partner?

At Sitter, we know how tough it can be to not only find work-life balance, but also find the balance between spending time as a family and spending time as a couple. Maybe you were really hoping to squeeze in dinner and a movie together, but you’re running out of time to book a sitter. Plus, finding a babysitter on short notice before a long weekend can be so hard—everyone has their own plans, and you’re often left waiting extended periods of time for a response, just to hear that the sitter can’t make it.

We feel your pain, and we’re here to help. Pick a day, pick a time, and send that text out to your whole team of sitters—whoever answers first gets the job! You can even pay your sitter through the app once you’ve made it back home from your date. Yes, it’s really that easy.

Out of town? No problem.

Oh, you’re out of town and you don’t know any sitters? No worries, we’ve still got your back. All you’ll need to do is open up the app, tap “My Sitters” in the menu, then tap the “+” as always. From there, you’ll simply need to alter the location of where the app searches for sitters for you! To do this, tap “Filter” then change your “Search From Location” settings to read “Current Location” rather than “Primary Address.” Tap, “Save Filter” and BOOM! The app will automatically populate a list of awesome sitters that you can reach out to. When you find a sitter (or a few sitters!) you love, go ahead and create a booking. Be sure to change the location of the booking to the address where you’ll need the sitter, and you’re good to go!
